An easy 2 minute Hearing Test

Take a few minutes and ask yourself these questions.  If you answer yes to any of these questions you may want to consider making an appointment for a hearing evaluation with an audiologist.
  • Do you feel that other people mumble?
  • Do you have difficulty talking on the phone or listening to the TV or radio?
  • Do you complain that you hear people but you just don’t understand what they are saying?
  • Have you ever worked in a noisy environment?
  • When you are with other people, do you wish you could hear better?
  • Do other people feel you have a hearing problem?
  • Do you have trouble hearing another person if there is background noise?
  • Do you ever need to ask people to repeat what they just said to you?
  • Do you avoid social activities where you need to hear well?
  • Do you have ringing in your ears?
Well?  How many questions did you answer YES to?
Because of the social stigma that used to be associated with hearing loss, many folks are embarrassed or afraid to admit that they aren’t hearing as well as they used to.  That fear can lead to isolation and the inability to participate in social and family activities, church services or even just going to the movies.  Today there are support services like CHAD or HLA (Hearing Loss Association) who can help.
